Jin Ya , literally Golden Buds, refers to the appearance of this tea and the fact that it is made exclusively from the buds of the tea plant, this unique golden tea is truly one of the best black teas from Yunnan. Yunnan has been a tea-producing region for over 1,700 years and the tea plant is thought to have originated in the area. Known as "Jin Ya" in China, this rare, top-grade Yunnan is picked in the early spring when the tea plants are budding with the year’s new growth. Yunnan Golden Buds brews a rich, flavorful cup with lingering notes of honey and spice. You can also steep it for as long as you like, it won’t become bitter, just stronger. The flavor have cacao, honey, wild flower, baked sweet potato and undergrowth notes, and the mouthfeel is full-bodied, smooth liquor with velvety mouthfeel. Well-balanced liquor with sustained flavours on the palate. Full bud Yunnan black teas are an elegant expression of texture and aftertaste, Yunnan's pre-Qingming picking has been selected and finished to represent a perfectly classic ideal of the Golden Buds flavor and texture profile. The downy buds make for a thick and rich brew. While Yunnan would usually blend buds like this into fine shu pu'er commemorative pressings, it is a pleasure to try such a pure expression of what their fields have to offer. Comprised of only stunning golden buds this Chinese black tea is definitely a treasure worthy of hunting. The creamy amber liquor shines with the essence of fresh baked pumpernickel, flavors of sweet potato, and a bright cedar finish that will leave you wanting more.
